Christmas Red Velvet Meringues

Red Velvet Meringue10

Since I remember, I’ve always been a person who’s on time. I’ve made to do lists, I’ve made Christmas presents in advance, and I’ve baked sweets to give as gifts to my friends. New York changed everything, and when I say everything I mean it. Most of the time I’m late, and I still make a lot of lists, but of course I’m not following them. This time I forced myself, and I started with some Christmas gift ideas to bake. Yes, I’m pretty good I know 😉 Meringues are really easy to do, you just need to be patient and have time! These little impeccable sweets are so beautiful, so I thought: let’s give them a Christmas touch! The Red Velvet emulsion (by LorAnn) that I used is perfect, it gives the taste and most of all a perfect powerful color! Let’s start baking them, and then I’ll tell you how to create a super cute Red Velvet Meringue Jar for Christmas!

Ingredients
  1. 2 egg whites
  2. 1/2 cup of sugar
  3. Red Velvet emulsion, Lorann Oils
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees F. Line one sheet pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Beat egg whites and sugar together in an electric mixer for 10-12 minutes. The mixture should be smooth and stable.
  3. Take a piping bag and using a brush, spread the Red Velvet emulsion inside it.
  4. Using a spatula, fill the piping bag with meringue mixture, packing it in as highly as possible.
  5. Pipe the mixture, applying a slow pressure. Try to pipe always the same amount of mixture.
  6. Bake for 1 hour and a half.
  7. Sometimes open the oven door to let out the steam
Notes
  1. What do you need to make a Christmas Red Velvet Meringue Jar? You need a jar, of course (I used the Bonne Maman ones because I love the top), a white and red thread, and also of course meringues! Let the meringues dry a little bit on the outside, but not so much or they will become sticky because of the sugar! Thread the tag and tie it around the jar. Take the meringues and put them into the jar, cover it. You're done with your first DIY Christmas gift!
